#8 Women's Crew Wins at the NE-10 Cup Saturday
WORCESTER, Mass. — For a third straight season, the eighth-ranked Merrimack College women's crew team has captured the Northeast-10 Cup and have been crowned conference champions. The Warriors raced on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
The Basics
Team Finish: Merrimack College 1st/3
Location: Lake Quinsigamond | Worcester, Mass.
What They Said
Head Coach David LeFebvre: "We had another solid race and were able to defend our NE-10 Championship by winning the Varsity 4. It was a cold and windy race, but our crew rowed calmly and confidently to take an open water victory. This was very good prep for the New England Rowing Championships next week on the same body of water."
How It Happened
The Warriors utilized the same lineup as the last few weeks, when they finished second at the Knecht Cup in New Jersey and first at the UMass Lowell Invitational. The Merrimack lineup consisted of coxswain Jess Khoury (Bay Shore, N.Y.), stroke Aubrey O'Neill (Pawcatuck, Conn.), third seat Lydia Staschke (Guilford, Conn.), fourth seat Lauren Blazon (Lowell, Mass.) and Tasha Wypych (Wellington, New Zealand) on the bow.
The Warriors won the race by 25.48 seconds over second-place Franklin Pierce, and by 56.5 seconds over Assumption.
