Women's Golf Currently in First Place at Lady Penmen Invitational

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Merrimack College women's golf team currently sits in first place at the Lady Penmen Invitational in New London, New Hampshire, heading into Day 2 action on Sunday. In the first round of the tournament, the Warriors' placed three golfers in the top-four overall and recorded a team score of 307, which is good for the lowest single round in program history.

How It Happened
Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) currently sits in first overall, as she shot a 74 in the first round. The Scarsdale, New York, native has now led the Warriors in two of four rounds this season.

Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) currently sits in a tie for second overall, following an opening round of 75. Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) continues her tremendous season, as she fired a 76 and currently sits in fourth-place overall. Ricigliano, Wagner and Knight have combined for eight rounds in the 70s so far this season.

Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) and sophomore Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) carded season-best rounds of 82 and 85, respectively. Drew is tied for 10th overall and Monaco sits in 19th in the field. Junior captain Sam Gervais (Chelmsford, Mass.) tallied an 89 and sophomore Kristen Gamble (Manlius, N.Y.) recorded a 100, as the two are currently in 22nd and 31st, respectively.
