NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College field hockey team will play their third ranked opponent in the last four games when they face off with #10 Franklin Pierce on Friday afternoon.

The Basics

Records: Merrimack (4-2, 1-1 NE-10)
| #10 Franklin Pierce (5-2, 1-1 NE-10)

Last Time Out:
The Warriors topped the St. Michael's Purple Knights on Wednesday in their Northeast-10 Conference home opener, 3-1. Sophomore Rylie Hammond (Phillipston, Mass.) scored two goals in the game, the second time she has done that in her career, to lead the Warriors to the victory. Senior goalkeeper Madison Davis (San Jose, Calif.) improved her record to 3-1.

Last Season vs. Franklin Pierce:
These two teams would only meet once last year in what would be the Warriors' NE-10 and home opener. The Warriors would beat the Ravens in a shutout, 3-0. The win over Franklin Pierce was also the one other game Hammond scored two goals, which would be the first two goals of her career.

The Warriors:

  • Freshman Mary McNeil (Canton, Mass.) and Taylor Simpson (York, Maine) are tied for the team lead in goals with four.
  • Merrimack is outshooting opponents 105-66 on the year, and outscoring their foes by a margin of 14-9
  • Davis is fourth in the conference with a 1.43 goals-against average.

The Ravens:

  • Franklin Pierce is 5-2 through their first seven games of the season. Their most recent loss came at Assumption, a team the Warriors beat in their second game of the season.
  • Sophomore Carly Canavan is off to a hot start for the Ravens, scoring five goals on the year which is good enough for second in the conference.
