Women's Golf Leads after Day 1 at NE-10 Championship

SANDS POINT, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's golf team currently sits in first place at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, in Sands Point, New York, heading into Day 2 action. The Warriors' placed the top-two individual golfers in the field in the opening round, as the team is currently 36 strokes ahead of second place.

How It Happened
Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) shot an opening-round 74, as she currently sits in first-place overall. The Scarsdale, New York, native has now led the Warriors in three of six rounds this season. Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) fired a 78 and currently sits in second-place overall. Knight has posted 70s in five of six rounds this season and is averaging a team-low 76.5 strokes per round.

Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) shot an 82, which is tied for her season-best round. She currently sits in a tie for fourth and has posted 82s in three-consecutive rounds. The Lunenburg, Massachusetts, native finished second overall at the NE-10 Championship last spring, as she fired a second-round total of 78.

Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) is currently in seventh, following an opening round of 85. Rounding out the scores for the Warriors was junior captain Sam Gervais (Chelmsford, Mass.), as she fired a 97 and is tied for 19th in the field.
