Women's Volleyball Begins Three-Match Week at Stonehill Tuesday (7 p.m.)

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team aims to halt a three-match Northeast-10 Conference losing skid on Tuesday evening when the Warriors travel to Easton, Mass. to face Stonehill College. The match begins at 7 p.m. from Merkert Gymnasium

Last Time Out:

  • The New Haven Chargers visited Hammel Court on Saturday night, coming away with a 3-0 victory over the Warriors
  • Senior setter Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) finished with a match-high 23 assists, brining her career total to 3,628. Stuhr has a chance to become just the second player in program history to record 4,000 career assists, as she currently ranks No. 2 all-time in career helpers
  • Junior libero Christina Nye (Plaistow, N.H.) notched 19 digs, the most of any player and her fourth straight match with at least 10. The third-year player has averaged 5.71 digs-per-set over her last 14 frames player
  • With her performance Saturday, Jennifer Cain (Melrose, Mass.) moved into seventh place on the all-time kills list, with 738 over her four-year career

Last Season vs. Stonehill:

  • Merrimack knocked off Stonehill, 3-1, in a match played at Hammel Court last season
  • Cain led all players with 14 kill while adding seven digs. Nye nearly finished with a  double-double registering 12 kills and nine digs from her outside-hitting position
  • Stuhr dished out 46 assists, while Sofia Basauri (Beaverton, Ore.) also had a strong outing with eight kills on 16 attacks for a .438 hitting percentage

The Skyhawks:

  • After winning back-to-back NE-10 matches by 3-0 scores, the Skyhawks enter Tuesday evening with an identical three-match losing skid as the Warriors
  • Junior Katherine DeLanty has been one of the top hitters in the conference, averaging over three kills-per-set, totaling 175 on the year
  • Senior Taylor Stevens also poses a threat from the setter position, averaging nearly 10 assists-per-frame
