Women's Volleyball Closes Week with Two Road Matches at Assumption/SNHU

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team plays two road matches in a span of three days to close out its three-match week, beginning with the Assumption Greyhounds on Thursday followed by the Southern New Hampshire Penmen on Saturday. The Assumption match will mark the final non-conference tilt of the season, while the meeting with the Penmen is a Northeast-10 duel. Both matches start at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out:
- Merrimack won in 3-2 fashion over Stonehill College on Tuesday night, picking up their second NE-10 victory of the season
- Freshman Catherine Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) posted a spectacular line with 25 kills on 45 total attacks with only one error, finishing with a match-high .533 hitting percentage
- Junior Mary Kate McCarroll (Harrison, Ohio) contributed an equally impressive hitting line with 15 kills and four error on 32 attacks (.344). Additionally, McCarroll and Flaherty combined for five of the Warriors' 13 blocks
- Senior setter Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) posted 51 assists, the most of any player, to register her second highest output of the season
- In the digs department, senior captain Jennifer Cain (Melrose, Mass.) notched a career-high 25 on the night, while sophomore Amanda Cain (Melrose, Mass.), Jen's sister, finished with a career-high 13 from her defensive specialist position
Last Season/Earlier this Season vs. Assumption/SNHU:
- The Navy and Gold ended last season with a 3-1 win over the Greyhounds in NE-10 play
- Senior Juliette McCall (Torrance, Calif.) finished the afternoon with a team-high 15 kills, while sophomore Katelynn Marr (Franklin, Mass.) set career highs with eight kills on 36 attacks
- Earlier this season, the Warriors knocked off the Penmen, 3-1, to pick up their first win of the season
- Stuhr totaled a double-double with 41 assists and 12 digs and freshman Julia Stewart (Melville, N.Y.) had one of her best matches to date with 10 kills and 13 digs
The Greyhounds:
- Assumption enters Thursday's match with two victories on the season over Salem International and Adelphi
- The match against the Panthers was a five-set victory, marking the Greyhounds first NE-10 win
- The Greyhounds employ a balanced attack with five players totaling at least 70 kills. Junior Maria Chrisom has been one of the top liberos in the league, leading the team in total digs (242) and digs-per-set (5.26)
The Penmen:
- Southern New Hampshire has played five straight NE-10 matches leading into Saturday, winning only once during that span
- Victoria Wehrmann finished with 14 kills and a .542 attack rate in the first meeting between the two squads
- Joanne Coffer notched a double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs. The rookie setter has over 500 helpers, an average of 8.33 per set, across 17 matches this year
