Women's Rowing Finishes 11th in Women's Collegiate Fours at the 52nd Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Racing in the prestigious 52nd Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Cambridge, Mass., the Merrimack College women's rowing team recorded a program-best 11th-place finish on Sunday afternoon in the Women's Collegiate Fours event.

How It Happened
- The Warriors hit the water for the first time in competitive play this fall at the Head of Charles, racing in the renown regatta for the third time in program history and the first time since the 2014-15 season
- The Navy and Gold topped their previous best finish by 12 spots. Merrimack crossed the finish line in 23rd during the program's debut at the Head of the Charles during the 2012-13 campaign
- Merrimack finished with a time of 22:00.28, besting program's from Clemson University, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Oregon among the 24 units that finished with a slower time than the Warriors
- Augulewicz and Wengefeld made their debuts in Merrimack's top fours boat, while Blazon, Khoury and Wypych returned from last year's squad
- With their run on Sunday, the Warriors secured a berth in next year's Head of the Charles
- Barry University won the race with a time of 20:23.65. Merrimack missed out on a top-10 finish by a tick over three seconds, crossing the finish line just behind the boat from Wesleyan University
