How It Happened
- The hosts dominated the first half, jumping out to a 14-4 lead over the first five minutes of the game. During the stretch, the Hawks shot 6-of-8 from the field and sank a pair of 3-pointers
- Freshman Juvaris Hayes (Paterson, N.J.) hit a layup for two of his team-high eight first-half points to halt the run, but Saint Anselm kept rolling from there. An old-fashioned three-point play from Grant Mackay allowed the Hawks to double up Merrimack, 22-11, with 9:26 left in the half
- The largest lead of the Hawks in the first half was 15 points, which that reached on multiple occasions. Graduate Anthony Barry (Uxbridge, Mass.) hit a turnaround jumper to make it a 10-point game, 33-23, with 3:31 to play in half. The Hawks' defense held the Warriors scoreless from that point, adding five more points to make it 38-23 after 20 minutes
- Following a strong shooting performance in the first half, the Hawks did the same to start the second by scoring the half's first five points to build a 20-point lead, 43-23. The Warriors answered with a 6-0 run capped off by a kick out from Hayes that led to a 3-pointer from freshman Jaleel Lord (Jersey City, N.J.) with 17:32 remaining
- Freshman Devon Moore (Hanover, Pa.) drained a triple right in front of his own bench to make it a 15-point game, but consecutive 3-pointers for the Hawks and a three-point play for Tim Guers gave the hosts their largest lead to that point, 60-38, with under 11 minutes to play
- With 5:54 on the clock, Cody Ball stepped into a 3-pointer from the top of key to give the Hawks a 27-point advantage, 74-47. The Hawks finished with 88 points in the victory, limiting the Navy and Gold to 59 in the process
