How It Happened
1st Period

2nd Period
- Merrimack drew a power play late in the first that carried over to the second, and just as the man advantage expired junior Jared Kolquist (Hermantown, Minn.) managed to thread his second marker of the season thanks to a shot through a screen at 1:06 to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
- The River Hawks would get even midway through the second frame off a goal from defenseman Dylan Zink, and that score went unchanged through the remainder of the period.
3rd Period
- Merrimack was forced to swap goaltenders about halfway through the final stanza, as sophomore Drew Vogler (Florissant, Mo.) entered the contest with 11:31 remaining.
- The River Hawks would net the go-ahead tally three minutes later, as Ryan Dmowski finished off a 2-on-1 feed for his fourth goal of the season to put the hosts ahead, 2-1, with 8:15 to play.
- C.J. Smith stretched the lead to two a few minutes after that, threading home a wrist shot while slicing through the near circle to extend UMass Lowell's edge to 3-1.
- Zink would add one more off an empty-netter to account for the final margin of defeat.
