FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Merrimack College wpmen's tennis team travelled to Queen's (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon, dropping an 8-1 contest against the Knights.

How It Happened
The matchup pitted the tenth-ranked Warriors against the third-ranked Knights based on the most recent ITA East Region poll.

The Knights swept doubles play, taking a 3-0 advantage into singles. Both first and third doubles ended at 8-5 margins, with Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela)/Mana Seifaei (North York, Ontario) falling at No. 1 and freshmen Lauren Persson (Barnstable, Mass.)/Celine Mende (Shrewsbury, Mass.) losing at No. 3

Messina picked up a straight-set victory at first singles, notching her first victory of the spring after moving through the fall undefeated in dual-match play. Sophomore Mackenzie Blair (Thomaston, Conn.) won her first set at fifth singles, before her opponent battled back to win a three-set decision.
