Women's Lacrosse Tops Albright, 14-11
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Merrimack College women's lacrosse team raced out to a seven-goal lead and never looked back, as the Warriors topped Albright College, 14-11, on Saturday morning at Baker Field in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Basics
Score: Merrimack 14, Albright 11
Records: Merrimack (2-3) | Albright (4-3)
Location: Barker Field | Hilton Head, S.C.
How It Happened
After dropping a pair of one-goal decisions to conference foes, Merrimack looked to snap a three-game skid after heading to South Carolina to meet Albright for the first time in school history.
Merrimack wasted no time racing out to an early lead, scoring the game's first seven goals to build a 7-0 lead. Five different goal-scorers highlighted the Warriors' early run, including a hat trick from freshman Amber Feminella (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) within the first nine minutes of regulation.
Albright would make things more interesting with a 5-2 run to close out the half, but the Warriors still carried a 9-5 lead into the half.
Merrimack and Albright exchanged goals in the early portions of the second half before the Lions ultimately cut the deficit to two (10-8) with 23:29 to play. Back-to-back goals from Feminella and junior Meghan Wiseman (Arlington, Mass.) restored the Warriors' four-goal edge, but Albright clawed to within one (12-11) with just over six minutes to go.
But the Warriors would not falter, sealing the win with goals from senior Danielle Riley (West Point, N.Y.) and junior Hunter McCarthy (Avon, Conn.) to wrap up the final margin of victory.
Notes and Numbers
- Feminella's found the back of the net five times for the third straight game, upping her team-leading total to 21

- In net, sophomore Alexa Petzold (Ridgewood, N.J.) and freshman Lauren Trepaney (Nashua, N.H.) each shared goaltending duties once again; Petzold finished with nine saves, while Trepaney turned away six shots
