Women's Golf Finishes in 13th at Perry Park Spring Fling over the Weekend

PERRY PARK, Ky. – The Merrimack College women's golf team began its spring season with a solid performance at the Perry Park Spring Fling, as the Warriors placed 13th out of 27 teams in the three-round tournament in Perry Park, Kentucky. The Warriors posted a 319 in the final round, which resulted in the squad moving up two spots in the standings.

What They Said
Head Coach Nick Crovetti: "I thought the team performed solidly all three days, with contribution from all players. The Perry Park Spring Fling represents the largest and deepest field we play all year, so we will take 13th place, and in doing so, beating three regional bubble teams currently ranked ahead of us."

How It Happened
Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) carded a 75-75-81-231 ledger in the three-day tournament, as she finished in a tie for 15th overall in the field. The Groveland, Massachusetts, native has fired 70s in 11 of 14 rounds during her career, while being the Warriors' top-finisher in three consecutive events and five of the last six.

Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) improved continuously as the tournament progressed, as she posted an 83-79-77-239 ledger and finished in a tie for 41st overall. The San Diego, California, native has fired 70s in 15 of 23 rounds dating back to March 2015.

Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) shot a three-round total of 250 (84-87-79), while finishing in a tie for 79th overall. The Scarsdale, New York, native has fired 70s in six rounds during the 2015-16 season.

Freshman Olivia Dempster (Auckland, New Zealand) performed admirably in her debut for the Warriors, as she tallied a 258 (88-88-82) and finished in a tie for 100th in the field. Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) recorded a 260 (84-92-84), as she finished in a tie for 111th overall.
