McBride Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Caitlin McBride (Danver, Mass.) of the Merrimack College softball team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week after hitting for an above-.500 average during a 5-1 stretch for the Warriors this past week.
After going hitless in the Warriors' first game of the week, McBride proceeded to tally a hit in each of Merrimack's next five games, going 9-for-15 (.600 avg) during that span. McBride was 9-for-17 for the week (.529 avg), posting two doubles and two home runs with eight RBI while slugging 1.000 on the week and not striking out once.
McBride's big performance came in the Warriors doubleheader sweep at Saint Anselm on Sunday afternoon, where she went 5-for-7 across both games recording seven RBI, with five of those coming in game two of the day where the Danvers, Massachusetts native recorded the first multi-home run game of her career, going 3-for-3 with a double and two home runs.
McBride and the Warriors open a three-day homestand on Monday when they host American International for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
