EXTON, Pa. – The Merrimack College women's golf team finished second overall out of a field of 11 teams at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational on Sunday and Monday in Exton, Pennsylvania. The Warriors' posted a 337 in the second round, as the squad shaved 11 strokes off its first-round performance.

Head Coach Nick Crovetti: "The runner-up finish was good for our confidence and momentum heading into the last scheduled event. Considering our slow start, the team stepped up, and now we must prepare for the Cavalier Classic next weekend in Ohio."

How It Happened
Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) continues to strive for excellence on a daily basis, as she finished third overall with an 81-80-161 ledger. The Groveland, Massachusetts, native has been the Warriors' top-finisher in five consecutive events and seven of the last eight dating back to the Michael Corbett Fall Classic in September.

Knight has led the team in 11 specific rounds during the 2015-16 season, which includes five of seven spring rounds. The freshman standout is averaging a team-low 77.9 strokes per round, while finishing in the top-15 overall in all nine events and the top-three on five occasions.

Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) shot a two-day total of 173 and finished in a tie for 13th overall. The San Diego, California, native posted an 83 in second-round action, which stood as the third-lowest single-round total by any Warrior in the tournament. 

Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) recorded an 87-90-177 ledger and finished in a tie for 19th overall. Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) and freshman Olivia Dempster (Auckland, New Zealand) finished in a tie for 21st overall, as the two carded ledgers of 90-88-178 and 92-86-178, respectively.

Sophomore Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) competed on the individual side, as she shot a 95-93-188 ledger.
