Women's Golf Currently in Seventh after Day 1 at the Cavalier Classic Saturday

CANTON, Ohio – The Merrimack College women's golf team currently sits in seventh place out of a field of 15 teams at the Cavalier Classic in Canton, Ohio, as the Warriors fired a 329 in the opening round on Saturday.

How It Happened
Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) performed well in the opening round, as she posted a 78 and currently sits in a tie for ninth overall. Knight has now fired 70s in 12 rounds this season, while averaging a team-low 77.9 strokes per round. The Groveland, Massachusetts, native has been the Warriors' top-finisher in 12 specific rounds.
Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) sits in a tie for 20th overall, as she fired an 81. Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) followed close behind with an 82, as she is in a tie for 26th overall.
Freshman Olivia Dempster (Auckland, New Zealand) fired an 88 and currently sits in a tie for 53rd overall. The Auckland, New Zealand, native has fired 80s in six of eight rounds during the spring season. Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) recorded an opening-round total of 90, which puts her in a tie for 62nd overall.
A trio of Warriors competed on the individual side, as junior captain Sam Gervais (Chelmsford, Mass.) shot an 89 and is in a tie for 58th in the field. Sophomores Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) and Kristen Gamble (Manlius, N.Y.) also competed on the individual side, as Monaco fired a 91 and Gamble posted a 108.
