CANTON, Ohio – The Merrimack College women's golf team recorded a sixth-place finish out of a field of 15 teams at the two-round Cavalier Classic on Saturday and Sunday in Canton, Ohio. The Warriors placed three golfers in the top-20 overall and totaled a 318 in the second round, which trimmed 11 strokes off the team's first-round performance. The single-round total of 318 is the lowest for the Warriors during the spring season and it stands as the fourth lowest for the entire 2015-16 season.

Head Coach Nick Crovetti: "The team finished off another great season with a solid final round. I am glad the entire team was able to travel, and I am proud of how the team represents Merrimack on and off the course. Now we wait and see if our team or individual qualifies for the NCAA Division II East Super Regional."

How It Happened
Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) finished in a tie for 11th overall, as she posted an 81-75-156 ledger at the Glenmoor Country Club. The second-round total of 75 stood as the lowest single round by any Warrior in the entire tournament, while it is also tied for the lowest single-round total by any competitor on the team during the spring season.

The San Diego, California, native has fired 75s on three occasions during the season, as she has been the Warriors' top-finisher in two events and five specific rounds. She has shot 70s in eight rounds this season and is averaging 80.7 strokes per round, which is the second-lowest average on the team.

Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) fired a 78-80-158 ledger, as she finished in a tie for 14th overall. The Groveland, Massachusetts, native has finished in the top-15 overall during all 10 events this season.

Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) finished strong in the tournament, as she fired a 79 in the second round. She posted an opening-round total of 82 and finished with a 161, which put her in a tie for 20th overall. The Scarsdale, New York, native has fired 70s in seven rounds this season.

Freshman Olivia Dempster (Auckland, New Zealand) fired an 88-84-172 ledger and finished in a tie for 45th overall. The Auckland, New Zealand, native has fired 80s in seven of nine rounds during the spring season. Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) shot a 176, as she finished in 57th overall. Drew fired an 86 on the second day, as she shaved four strokes off her opening-round performance.

Sophomore Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) led the way for the Warriors on the individual side, as she tallied a 91-84-175 ledger and finished in a tie for 54th overall. Junior captain Sam Gervais (Chelmsford, Mass.) carded a 184 and finished in 70th overall, as she totaled an 89 in the first round and a 95 in the final round. Sophomore Kristen Gamble (Manlius, N.Y.) carded a two-round total of 229, as she finished in 85th overall.
