Women's Volleyball Hosts Merrimack Invitational This Weekend; Set to Play Six Matches Overall

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team embarks on a stretch of six matches over three days, that includes hosting the Merrimack Invitational starting on Friday, beginning on Thursday night when the Warriors travel to Saint Anselm for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.   • Merrimack played four matches last weekend at the USC Aiken Invitational, facing Eckerd, Mount Olive, Montevallo and Belmont Abbey in the span of two days
  • Senior setter Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) finished with a double-double in three of the four matches, bringing her season total to five. She has 228 total assists and 73 digs on the year
  • Entering this week, junior Mary Kate McCarroll (Harrison, Ohio) leads the team with 59 kills, while senior captain Jennifer Cain (Melrose, Mass.) owns a rate of 2.65 kills-per-set, the most on the Warriors
  • Junior libero Christina Nye (Plaistow, N.H.) boasts 82 digs for an average of 2.93 per set, the most on the Navy and Gold

About the Merrimack Invitational:

  • Prior to the tournament this weekend, the Warriors meet Saint Anselm after splitting two matches with the Hawks in 2015
  • Four teams will travel to campus beginning on Friday, highlighted by fifth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney. Northeast-10 Conference rivals American International and Bentley will also compete, joining East Stroudsburg as the final of the five participants
  • Friday's action will begin at 10 a.m. as part of a five-match day, while Saturday will feature six matches beginning at 8 a.m.
