Women's Tennis Secures Consecutive Wins with 8-1 Victory vs. Saint Rose Sunday

MIDDLETON, Mass. – Playing indoors at the Northeast Tennis Center in Middleton, Mass., the Merrimack College women's tennis team downed the College of Saint Rose, 8-1, to pick up its second straight Northeast-10 Conference win against programs from The Empire State.

How It Happened (Doubles)
- No. 1 – After an 8-1 victory over Le Moyne Saturday, senior Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and sophomore Mana Seifaei (North York, Ontario) got things going for the Warriors with an 8-1 victory at the first flight
- No. 2 – Marking Saint Rose's lone win on the afternoon, the pairing of Averie Bowen/Alanna Bergmann triumphed over juniors Danielle Dunn (Middleton, Mass.) and Mackenzie Blair (Thomaston, Conn.)
- No. 3 – In the most impressive performance of the doubles portion, freshman Mia Briggs (York, Maine) and sophomore Lauren Persson (Barnstable, Mass.) shutout their opposition, 8-0
How It Happened (Singles)
- No. 1 – It was a straight sweep during singles for the Warriors, with Messina improving to 6-0 this season at the top flight with a straight-set win (6-1, 6-0)
- No. 2 – Seifaei put forth her most impressive performance to date with a blanking at second singles, 6-0 and 6-0, over Emily Farrell
- No. 3 – Outside of one game in the second set, Persson dispatched her opponent easily at the third flight (6-0, 6-1)
- No. 4 – Similarly to Persson, Dunn trotted out at fourth singles and won the opening set in shutout fashion before a 6-2 win in the final frame to triumph at her flight
- No. 5 – The final two singles spots went to the Warriors without losing a game, beginning with Blair at fifth singles
- No. 6 – Briggs rounded out the singles group with her fifth win in six matches to begin her collegiate career
