How It Happened

  • 2' – The Warriors nearly scored their first goal of 2016 under two minutes into the season, as an early corner kick landed right on the foot of junior Jorgi Adee (Whitinsville, Mass.), but her one-touch shot would sail just over the crossbar to keep Merrimack from an early score.
  • 21' – Junior Andrea Rego (Dartmouth, Mass.) initiated an offensive break for the Warriors, carrying the ball up the left side of the field. She would delivier a beautiful pass across the face of the net to fellow junior Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.) on the far post, but her shot would just catch the edge of her foot to go wide on an open net.
  • 25' – Boucher would claim redemption for her missed opportunity just minutes later after a great individual effort from Carter led to her feeding Boucher all alone in front of the net for the tap in for the first Merrimack goal of the 2016 season.
  • 50' – After assisting on the first goal, Carter would net the second for the Warriors after Rego created another offensive break with her speed, giving the Warriors a two-on-one opportunity that she fed over to her classmate to extend the lead to 2-0
  • 51' – Just over a minute after Carter's goal, Boucher would get a chance at another with a penalty shot attempt, but was stopped by a nice save by Molloy's keeper. Boucher followed the rebound to give herself another great look at the net, but she would sail the put-back just wide.

Inside The Numbers

  • Junior Molly Meehan (Fairfield, Conn.) recorded her first solo shutout in the 2016 opener after sharing time last season and being a part of six combined shutouts.
  • Carter picks up a three-point game to start off the year, registering a goal and assisting on the other score. She picks up right where her 2015 season left off, as she recorded 7 goal and six assists for 20 points as a sophomore ranking second on the team.
  • Boucher's game-winning goal on Friday is just the second game-winner of her career, as she registered her first-career game-winning goal last season.
