NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior Hannah Magerman (Franklin, Mass.) scored her first two goals of the season to register her second-career multi-goal game to lead the Merrimack College field hockey team past Franklin Pierce by a score of 3-0 on Saturday night in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Franklin Pierce 0
Records: Merrimack (2-4, 2-1 NE-10) |
Franklin Pierce (2-5, 0-3 NE-10)

How It Happened

  • 23' – After dominating the opening portions of the game in possession and statisctics, the Warriors would eventually see the effort pay of as junior Rylie Hammond (Phillipston, Mass.) opened the scoring for Merrimack for the second straight game, putting home a nice feed from sophomore Samantha Bartush (Norwalk, Conn.) for the score and giving the Warriors the early 1-0 lead.
  • 27' – The first of Magerman's two goals would come just four minutes after Hammond's game-opening score, and would also be assisted by Hammond. The goal was the result of a quality offensive break that saw great passing from Hammond and sophomore Mary McNeil (Canton, Mass.) to move the ball up-field and send Magerman into scoring territory, where she capitalized for her first of the season.
  • 40' – Merrimack's third of the game and Magerman's second would again be the result of slick and accurate passing from the Warriors, as a two-on-one opportunity for Merrimack would see junior Taylor Simpson (York, Maine) feed a great pass across the face of the net and by the lone Raven defender to find Magerman all alone, requiring her to simply hit the ball forward into a wide open net.

Inside The Numbers

  • The Warriors dominated the game on the offensive end, racking up possession time and firing shot after shot at the net. Merrimack would outshoot Franklin Pierce 20-8 in the game, including a staggering 14-4 in the first half.
  • Magerman's two scores in Saturday night's contest are also the first two goals of the season for Magerman. It also marks the second two-goal game of her career, as she also achieved that feat last season at Dowling.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Katharina Ohmen (Bremen, Germany) recorded four saves in what was the rookie's first-career shutout. It was also just the fourth game of her career.
