Women's Volleyball Set for Tuesday Tilt at Bentley

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – On the heels of its come-from-behind victory at Saint Michael's on Saturday to begin Northeast-10 Conference play, the Merrimack College women's volleyball team returns to league play Tuesday night when the Warriors travel to Waltham, Mass. to take on Bentley at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out:

  • For the first time in over four years, the Warriors overcame a 2-0 deficit and knocked off the Purple Knights by a 3-2 final on Saturday afternoon
  • Senior setter Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) delivered a career-high 65 assists in the five-setter, while collecting 16 digs for her eighth double-double of the season
  • Classmate and fellow captain Jennifer Cain (Melrose, Mass.) also doubled up with 19 kills and 21 digs. Both totals marked season highs for the fourth-year hitter, who notched the game-winning kill in the 19-17 final set
  • Freshman middle hitter Catherine Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) emerged to have her best career match to date, totaling a career-high 18 kills on 41 attacks with only three errors
  • Junior libero Christina Nye (Plaistow, N.H.) anchored the defensive effort by setting a new personal best with 30 digs, leading all Warriors in that category

Earlier This Season vs. Bentley:

  • The Warriors and Falcons met in non-conference action last week at Hammel Court, as part of the Merrimack Invitational hosted on campus
  • The visitors prevailed by a 3-1 margin, taking the final three sets after the Navy and Gold won the opening frame
  • Senior Juliette McCall (Torrance, Calif.) shined in the match for Merrimack, finishing with a match-high 12 kills with a .222 hitting percentage

The Falcons:

  • Bentley also enters Tuesday's contest on the heels of a conference-opening victory over Saint Michael's
  • Despite their sub-.500 overall records, both the Warriors and Falcons are one of six programs remaining in the NE-10 with unblemished conference marks
  • Junior Celia Cristofoli and freshman Rachel Bruno each received conference honors this week, with the former receiving Libero of the Week distinction and the latter earning Rookie of the Week

The Navy and Gold have a week off before returning home next Tuesday to host Southern Connecticut for a 7 p.m. match at Hammel Court.
