Women's Soccer Readies for First Ranked Opponent of 2016, Hosts #12 Adelphi Wednesday (7 p.m.)

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's soccer team will close out September with a matchup against its first ranked opponent of the season when the Warriors welcome No.12 Adelphi to North Andover for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
The Basics

Last Time Out:
- The Warriors saw their scoring woes continue in their last contest, falling 3-0 at LIU Post on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
- Merrimack nearly tied the game at 1-1 in the 80th minute on a nice scoring chance from junior Andrea Rego (Dartmouth, Mass.) on a corner kick, but the deficit would hold at 1-0
- LIU Post extend their lead to 2-0 in the 84th minute of the game. Junior Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.) would get a quality shot on goal in the 87th minute, but saw it turned away and then quickly followed by the Pioneers third goal of the game.
Last Season vs. Adelphi:
- The Warriors and Panthers met twice last season, once in the regular season and once in the postseason. The teams played to a tie in the first matchup, while Adelphi posted a 2-1 win in the postseason.
- Merrimack and Adelphi played all the way to a 1-1 tie in their regular season matchup in late September in Garden City, New York. It was the third tie of the season for Merrimack and second for Adelphi.
- The teams' second meeting came in the NE-10 Semifinals, with the Warriors suffering a 2-1 loss in double overtime to end their NE-10 run. Junior Mia Reed (Essex Junction, Vt.) scored the lone goal of the game for Merrimack.
The Panthers:
- Adelphi enters Wednesday's game ranked 12th in the nation, boasting a 6-1 record with a 3-1 record in NE-10 play. They're were recently upset by 18th-ranked Stonehill when they were ranked fifth.
- Senior Morgan Santoro has opened up 2016 at a blistering pace, already registering nine goals and four assists for an NE-10 leading 22 points. Her goal total also leads the conference.
- Anne Marie Ulliac has handled the majority of net duties for the Panthers, playing and starting all seven games while posting a 1.15 goals-against average and a .692 save percentage.
