#16 Women's Track & Field Competes at Bowdoin Invitational Saturday

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Entering the final month of regular season meets for the indoor season, the #16 Merrimack College women's track & field team put together another strong all-around meet this past Saturday when it competed at the Bowdoin Invitational at Bowdoin College.

Head coach Jacky Mendes, "It's great to be into the full swing of the season. We've still got a lot of work to do moving forward, but the Warriors have continued to deliver some great performances while training. Most notably on Saturday, Spencer and Eldridge had some amazing performances that will keep the momentum going as we get into the more elite meets of the season."
How It Happened
- The Warriors would see their top finishes come from a pair of rookies each notching runner-up placement on both the track and the field. Freshman Savanna Spencer (Seabrook, N.H.) posted a second-place finish in the 600m with a time of 1:43.82, while classmate Gabrielle Eldridge (Easton, Mass.) finish second in the shot put with a personal-best 11.75m throw.
- Senior Chantal Sayegh (Melrose, Mass.) continued the quality start to her senior campaign, registering a third-place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 8.06. Junior Leniesha Williams (Bennington, Vt.) finished close behind in fifth at a time of 8.14.
- Sophomore Mariessa Ricciardi (Holden, Mass.) also found success on the track, finishing fourth in the 600m with a time of 1:44.36. Classmate Tori Daigle (Dayton, Maine) joined Ricciardi in top-five finishes for the Warriors as she finished fifth in the 60m hurdles at Bowdoin, positing an NE10 qualifying time of 9.65.
- Senior Kathryn Skotnicki (Haddon Heights, N.J.) helped highlight the Warriors' success in field events, posting a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a 1.47m jump, good enough to qualify for NE10's. Junior Lauren MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) also registered a fourth-place finish in the field, doing so in the triple jump with a 10.67m jump.
