#10 Field Hockey Tripped Up by #4 LIU Post, 6-1

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.  – In a top-10 clash between Northeast-10 Conference rivals, the No. 10 Merrimack College field hockey program lost a 6-1 contest against No. 4 LIU Post on Friday afternoon from Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

  • On the Pioneers' fourth shot of the first six minutes, the hosts capitalized on their second corner of the game to take a 1-0 lead
  • After assisting on the first goal, Kaycee Zelkovsky netted the second of the day in the 16th minute with the Pioneers scoring off another penalty corner. The hosts added one more to take a 3-0 lead into halftime
  • Just shy of two minutes into the second stanza, the Pioneers tallied their fourth goal off the day

  • Sophomore Katharina Ohmen (Bremen, Germany) and senior Kayla Raneri (Reading, Mass.) both saw time in net, with the former making three saves and latter stopping two shots
  • The Warriors currently sit in fifth in the NE10 standings with four games remaining in the regular season. The top-six programs advance to the postseason
Up Next
The Navy and Gold travel to ninth-ranked Stonehill on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in another NE10 battle between nationally ranked squads. The Warriors bested the Skyhawks, 5-4, earlier this season in a non-league contest played at Martone-Mejail Field.
