NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Coming off its first Northeast-10 Conference victory last weekend, the Merrimack College women's volleyball program will look to continue its winning ways this weekend when the Warriors play at pair of matches at Southern Connecticut and at Assumption. The Warriors face the Owls in New Haven, Conn. on Friday night at 7 p.m. before heading north to Worcester, Mass. to take on the Greyhounds at 12 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
Last Time Out:
- The Warriors defeated Saint Michael's College, 3-0, to celebrate Homecoming Weekend with a sweep of the Purple Knights
- Senior captain Mary Kate McCarroll (Harrison, Ohio) and sophomore Catherine Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) tied for the team lead with 10 kills apiece, with the former posting a team-high .474 hitting percentage
- As a team, the Warriors registered an attack rate of .308, the highest for the program in a single match since the 2014 season
- Sophomore Rosie Sperduto (Brentwood, Tenn.) notched a match-high 32 assists to go along with eight digs. Senior captain Christina Nye (Plaistow, N.H.) led the defensive effort with 10 digs to go along with eight kills, just missing her first double-double of the season
Recent History:
- Merrimack won three matches in a row against the Owls before suffering a three-set defeat last season to the Owls at Hammel Court
- The Warriors won both of their matches last season against Assumption, including a 3-1 victory on Senior Day against the Greyhounds.
- Both of Merrimack's captains combined for strong performances in 2016 against Assumption. McCarroll totaled 18 kills over the two matches, while Nye registered 55 combined digs
