NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The No. 9 Merrimack College men's soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to 12 games on Saturday afternoon, when the Warriors host No. 23 Southern Connecticut State for Senior Day from Martone-Mejail Field.

Last Time Out:
  • The Warriors defeated Franklin Pierce, 1-0, on Wednesday night in conference action from Martone-Mejail. Senior Mattia Lanzi (Viterbo, Italy) scored the lone goal in the contest in the 32nd minute. The Ravens keeper rushed out to challenge the ball, but was pulled out of his net. Lanzi was able to chip the ball over the keeper and into the wide open net. Senior keeper Lucas Rezende (Weymouth, Mass.) made four saves in the game.
  • The Warriors have outscored the opposition, 29-7 this season, averaging 2.07 goals per game, while allowing 0.50 goals per game. They have also outshot their opponents 199-114, including 95-41 with shots on net.
Inside the Series/Last Season vs. So. Conn. State
  • Last season, Merrimack shutout the Owls, 4-0. Junior Lars Sund (Stavanger, Norway) accounted for two goals and an assist, while senior Josue Ruiz Maya (Madero, Mexico) had one tally. Seniors Juan Meza (Cali, Columbia) and Mattia Lanzi each picked up an assist. Junior Tyler Packett (Eastham, Mass.) made three saves in net.
  • The Warriors have won four of the last six contests against Southern Connecticut State.
The Owls:
  • The Owls enter the game with an 8-2-3 record and are 6-3-2 in NE10 play. They lost Le Moyne at home on Wednesday, 2-1.
  • Louis Greenway-Tambi leads the team with 26 points, 17 of them coming during conference play. He has tallied 11 goals with four assists this year. Noah Varonier has started all 13 games in net, boasting a 0.80 goals-against-average, and a .831 save percentage.
  • The Owls have outscored their opponents 21-11 this year, including 14-5 in the second half.

Merrimack will play the final two games of the regular season on the road, with the first game being against Southern New Hampshire, which is receiving votes towards the national poll,Ā on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
