Sophomore Catherine Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) started the run with a point, while three consecutive kills from junior Katelynn Marr (Franklin, Mass.) highlighted the effort. With Merrimack up five, 23-18, the Greyhounds closed with two, but two straight errors for the hosts gave the Navy and Gold the win
- Set 2: Assumption posted leads of 6-2, 9-3 and 13-4, enabling the Greyhounds to establish control and even the match at a set apiece. Their lead grew to as large as 14 (20-6), but an 11-2 run brought the Warriors within striking distance at 22-17. The hosts buckled down, however, winning the final three points

- Set 4: A seesaw battle in the fourth saw the local rivals tied on nine occasions as the Warriors aimed to close the match in four. A kill from Nye brought the score to 19-all, but Greyhounds successfully forced a fifth set by closing the game on a 6-1 spurt
- Set 5: The Greyhounds forced Merrimack to use a timeout by winning seven of the first 10 points. Another point from Nye brought Merrimack within four, 9-5, but Assumption closed the day on a 6-2 run to claim the victory
