Women's Soccer Welcomes Assumption on Wednesday Night

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's soccer host Assumption on Wednesday night from Martone-Mejail Field in a must-win game for the Warriors at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
  • The Warriors dropped a 1-0 contest to New Haven on Saturday afternoon from Warrior Stadium on senior day. The Chargers scored in the 69th minute for the eventual game-winning goal. Merrimack looked for the equalizer late, but could not connect. Sophomore keeper Erin Fulton (Farmington, Conn.) made three saves in net.
  • Junior Gigi Guenther (Webster, Mass.) leads the team with 10 points on a career-high five goals, while senior captain Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.) is second on the team with eight points. She also has a career-high six assists this season.
  • Fulton is fifth in conference play with a 0.97 goals-against-average.
  • Merrimack needs to win out, along with help from around the league in order to make the postseason.
Last Season/Inside the Series vs. Assumption:
  • Last season Merrimack lost to the Greyhounds, 2-1, on the road. Boucher scored the lone goal in net, while Fulton made six saves in net.
  • The Warriors have won 25 of the 32 meetings between the two teams since 1989. However, the teams have gone back-and-forth over the last six meetings, with the home team winning each time.
The Greyhounds
  • The Greyhounds enter the game with a 9-4-1 record, and are 7-4-1 in NE10 play. Last time out, Assumption lost to Pace, 5-1, on Friday night on the road. Assumption is eighth in the United Soccer Coaches' East Region poll.
  • Kallie Villemaire leads the league with 36 points overall on 17 goals, with 24 points coming in conference play.
  • Alexis Nason has started 11 games in net, posting a 7-3-1 record and a 1.42 goals-against average.

The Warriors finish out the regular season on the road on Saturday, Oct. 28 against Saint Anselm in NE10 action. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
