WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 24 Merrimack College men's soccer team defeated Assumption College, 1-0, on Friday afternoon from the Multi-Sport Stadium in NE10 action. The Warriors finish the regular season with 13 wins and 10 in conference play.

The top-eight finishers advance to the NE10 Championship, which begins with opening round action on Tuesday, Oct. 31. How It Happened
  • The Warriors fired off three shots in the first nine minutes, but they were well defended by the Assumption defense.
  • 35' – Merrimack jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by junior Lars Sund (Stavanger, Norway) settled a cross from freshman Filippo Begliardi Ghidini (Ravenna, Italy) on the right side of the box. He fired a low shot to the left corner of the net for the tally.
  • The Warriors stymied the Greyhound offense, limiting them to just two shots in the first half.
  • Merrimack continued to pressure in the opening two minutes of the second with a pair of shots on net. The Warriors outshot Assumption 15-3 in the second half, including 3-1 in shots on goal.

  • The two shots in the first half was the second lowest shot total Merrimack had given up in a half.
  • Sund matched is career-high with his fifth goal of the season.
