MANCHESTER, N.H. ā The Merrimack College women's soccer team kept its NE10 Championship hopes alive on Wednesday night, and now travel to face Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon from Grappone Stadium at 1 p.m. It is a crucial game for both teams, as they are each jockeying for the eighth and final playoff spot in the NE10Ā standings.
Last Time Out
- The Warriors picked up an important victory against Assumption on Wednesday night, defeating the Greyhounds 2-0 at Martone-Mejail Field. Senior Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.) had a goal and an assist in the game, her second multi-point game of the season.
- Junior Erika Scott (Mendon, Mass.) picked up a tally, while freshman Izzy McDonnell (Fall River, Mass.) had an assist. Sophomore keeper Erin Fulton (Farmington, Conn.) made three saves in net, for her second shutout of the season.
- A win for Merrimack, along with a Bentley tie or loss, will put the Warriors into eighth in the NE10 standings. The Warriors could also move up to seventh in the standings with a win and Le Moyne loss, based on the head-to-head record against the Dolphins.
Last Season/Inside the Series vs. Saint Anselm:
- The Warriors defeated Saint Anselm, 2-0, at Martone-Mejail Field last year. Senior Victoria Carter (Smithfield, R.I.) and junior McKenna Moore (Seattle, Wash.) each picked up goals in the contest. Junior Amber Gustafson (Lancaster, Mass.) and senior Andrea Rego (Dartmouth, Mass.) contributed with assists. Sophomore keeper Erin Fulton (Farmington, Conn.) made 11 saves in the game.
- Merrimack has a 25-10-5 record against Saint Anselm since the 1984 season. The Warriors have won the last two games and are 2-1-1 since 2013 against the Hawks.
The Hawks:
- The Hawks enter the game with a 6-7-2 and are 4-7-2 in NE10 play. The last time out, Saint Anselm played to a 2-2 tie against New Haven on Wednesday.
- Corey Murray leads the team with 16 points with seven goals and two assists. Elise Bouchard has made 10 starts in net, posting a 4-5-1 record with two shutouts. Payton Wildrick has the other five starts with a 2-2-1 record and a 1.38 goals-against-average.
- Saint Anselm's only way of making the NE10 Championship is a win and a Bentley loss.
