NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball program plays its third non-conference game of the season on Saturday afternoon when the Warriors hit the road to face Nyack College at 2 p.m. from Bowman Gymnasium
Last Time Out:
- Freshman Alyssa Casey (Andover, Mass.) posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, scoring the game-winning field goal with 39 seconds to play on Wednesday night in the Warriors' 53-50 win at Assumption
- The contest marked the Northeast-10 Conference opener for Merrimack, knocking off the Greyhounds for the first time since the 2015-16 season
- Junior Karlee Alves (Ellington, Conn.) tied her career high with 10 points, while adding five assists and four steals. Freshman Mayson Kimball (Webster, N.H.) added eight points on 3-of-4 shooting
- The Warriors excelled again on the defensive end, holding the Greyhounds to 32 percent shooting from the field in the second half, while forcing 22 turnovers in the game
Team Leaders:
- Through three games, Casey leads the Warriors in scoring (19.7 ppg) and rebounds (9.7 rpg), ranking among the top-six in the NE10 in both categories
- Junior Lindsay Werner (Groton, Mass.) currently paces Merrimack and the NE10 with 10 three-pointers. She is second on Merrimack in scoring with 16.7 points per contest
- Alves leads the NE10 in both total assists (18) and assists per game (6.0)
The Warriors:
- Nyack suffered a pair of losses last weekend at the Roberts Wesleyan College Tournament. The Warriors host Saint Thomas Aquinas on Friday night before facing Merrimack on Saturday
- Sophomore Bryanna Brown leads the team with 14.0 points per game over two contests, shooting 57.1 percent from three-point range
- Nyack struggled defensively against Roberts Weslyan and Daemen, allowing over 86 points per game, while both programs shot a combined 46.1 percent against the Warriors' defense
The Series:
- Saturday will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Warriors of Merrimack and the Warriors of Nyack
- Three of the previous four meetings have occurred during the tenure of seventh-year head coach Monique LeBlanc, most recently in the 2014-15 season. Merrimack won all of those games by double digits
