GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Playing in its first of two matches in New York this weekend, the Merrimack College women's volleyball program suffered a three-set loss to Adelphi University on Friday evening from the Center of Recreation and Sport in Garden City, N.Y.

Set Breakdown
- Set 1: After the teams traded points over the first 10, Adelphi distanced themselves from the Warriors with an 8-2 run to build a 13-7 lead. Holding a six-point lead, the hosts won 10 of the final 12 points of the opener to take a 1-0 advantage, 25-11
- Set 2: The Panthers started the second frame on an 11-3 stretch. Two kills from sophomore Catherine Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) contributed to a 4-2 run that allowed Merrimack to climb within six, 14-8. The score sat at 17-10 when Adelphi put away the game with a set-clinching 8-2 run
- Set 3: One kill from junior Katelynn Marr (Franklin, Mass.) and back-to-back strikes for Flaherty allowed Merrimack to hang with Adelphi to start the third. The set was at a one-point margin, 13-12, in favor of the hosts before Adelphi embarked on another 8-2 stretch to build a seven-point lead (21-14). Junior Sofia Basauri (Beaverton, Ore.) notched a kill followed by an Adelphi error cut Merrimack's deficit to five, 22-17, but the Panthers won the last three points to clinch the match
