Knight's 79 Highlights Women's Golf's Day 1 Showing at Otter Invitational Monday in California

SEASIDE, Calif. – Playing against eight of the nation's top-30 teams, the Merrimack College women's golf team opened the spring season at the Otter Invitational in California. Sophomore Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) posted the top individual score for the Warriors, who were in action for the first time since late October.

How It Happened
- Knight began the spring with Merrimack's lone sub-70 score, posting a seven-over-par 79. She parred on 12 holes over the course of the afternoon.
- Senior Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) fired 10-over-par 82 to account for Merrimack's second-best finisher, while classmate Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) was six strokes back after carding an 88. Both juniors placed tied for 52nd and tied for 84th, respectively.
- Sophomore Olivia Dempster (Aukland, New Zealand) was just one stroke back of Wagner, tallying an 89 for an 87th-place finish in the individual leader board.
- Finally, senior Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) rounded out the quintet of Merrimack players with a first-round total of 100.
- Merrimack was playing against the following top-30 ranked teams according to Golfstat's Relative Ranking: Dallas Baptist (2), Tarleton State (4), Cal Baptist (5), Art Academy (21), Sonoma State (24), Chico (26), Cal State Monterey Bay (29) and Midwestern State (31).
- First-year head coach Jason Malcolm made his debut with the Warriors on Monday, as well.
