Women's Golf Completes Opening Rounds at Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic Monday in North Carolina

WALLACE, N.C. – Playing against another field of some of the country's top teams, the Merrimack College women's golf team played a challenging 36-hole slate as part of the first two rounds of the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic on Monday at River Landing in North Carolina.

How It Happened
- Merrimack endured its longest single day at any point this season after playing back-to-back 18-hole ledgers as part of the first two rounds of the tournament. The Warriors were only six strokes back of the next-closest team and 14 strokes back of the top-six teams.
- Sophomore Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) enjoyed a solid first day of play, tallying back-to-back scores in the mid 70s. She carded a first-round score of 76 before carding a 77 in the second round and was tied for 10th overall in the tournament at the end of the day with a nine-over-par 153.
- Junior Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) was as consistent as any other performer in the tournament, finishing with consecutive scores of 80 to account for Merrimack's second-best finisher and in a tie for 31st in the tournament after a 16-over-par 160.
- Junior Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) also carded an 80 in her first round on Monday and then registered an 84 in the afternoon round, posting a 20-over-par 164 while ranking 42nd in the tournament's individual field.
- Sophomore Olivia Dempster (Aukland, New Zealand) was also inside the tournament's top-50, cutting two strokes off her first round score after going 86-84—170 over the course of the afternoon to place 49th with a 26-over-par 170.
- Senior Sam Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.) also improved in the second round, improving by three strokes to place 51st overall after carding an 88-85—173 (+29).
- Junior Kristen Gamble (Manlius, N.Y.) competed as an individual and carded a 251 on the day.
