Men's Tennis Picks Up 8-1 Win at Assumption
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's tennis program moved within one win of locking up second place in the Northeast-10 Conference with an 8-1 victory on Thursday afternoon against the Assumption College Greyhounds at the Assumption Tennis Courts in Worcester, Mass. Senior Nick Majewski (Brewster, Mass.) recorded his 99th and 100th career wins, triumphing at first doubles and third singles.

How It Happened (Doubles)
- No. 1 –Majewski and junior Mikhail Belov (Krasnoarmeyskoy, Russia) rebounded from Wednesday's loss to Southern New Hampshire with a 8-3 win at first doubles against the Greyhounds, moving Merrimack's senior captain within one win of the century mark
- No. 2 – Junior Frank Vega (Lima, Peru) and freshman Alex Fedorov (Guilderland, N.Y.) recorded their seventh NE10 victory of the season with an 11-game (8-3) victory at the second flight
- No. 3 – Assumption won its lone point of the day at third doubles, besting Merrimack's pairing of senior Tayyab Sheikh (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Alex Slobin (Fairfield, Conn.), 8-6
How It Happened (Singles)
- No. 1 – Vega played at the first flight for the third straight match, winning for the second time in three tilts with a straight-sets victory at the first flight (7-5, 6-4)
- No. 2 – Belov recovered after stumbling in the opening frame to win a three-set match, 3-6, 6-4 and 6-3 over the Greyhounds' Ryan Foster. It marked the junior's third three-set victory of the season
- No. 3 – Majewski reached the century mark in terms of career wins during the singles portion of the match, emerging victorious with a 6-4 win in the opener followed by a 6-2 victory in the second set
- No. 4 – Fedorov bounced back after his first NE10 singles loss on Wednesday with a blanking in the first set (6-0) followed by a 6-4 win in the second frame to complete the sweep
- No. 5 – Slobin posted one of his best efforts of the season at the fifth flight, winning the first set in only seven games (6-1) to establish a dominant tone in the match, following with a 6-2 win to secure the singles point
- No. 6 – Sheikh echoed Belov at the second flight by recovering from a first-set stumble. He tied the sixth flight with a 6-4 second-set win and surged forward from there, winning the third frame by a 10-3 final
