NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Staring at an early five-goal deficit against the 18th-ranked team in the country, the Merrimack College women's lacrosse team battled back valiantly and eventually tied the game before visiting Stonehill pulled away late in an eventual 15-11 victory for the Skyhawks in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday night at Martone-Mejail Field.

Rapid Recap

  • Stonehill had most of the momentum at the game's onset, building a 7-2 lead through the first 17 minutes of the contest.
  • The Warriors would answer that with four uncontested goals to close out the half, however, as a pair of goals from sophomore Amber Feminella (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) highlighted that run that allowed the home side to get within one (7-6) at the half.
  • Merrimack kept that momentum rolling into the second half with two goals coming in a two-minute span to pull even at 8-8, but Stonehill countered that with three consecutive scores to open up an 11-8 advantage with just over 16 minutes remaining.
  • The Warriors got back to within two, but that was the closest their deficit would get the rest of the way as Stonehill pulled away with a three-goal spurt, withheld two more tallies from the hosts and then added another for insurance to close out the contest.

  • Sophomore Bridget Schofield (Littleton, Mass.) tallied her fifth hat trick of the season with an even three-goal performance to lead all Warriors, while freshman Kyra Schwartzman (Kennebunk, Maine) and Feminella each added two goals apiece to highlight the offensive showing.
