Women's Track & Field Concludes Regular Season Meets at Stonehill Saturday

EASTON, Mass. – Highlighted by a first-place finish in the 100m dash and an improvement on her Northeast-10 Conference-best time from sophomore Michaela Pernell (Naugatuck, Conn.), the Merrimack College women's track & field team finished its regular season strong at the Skyhawk Invitational at Stonehill on Saturday.

How It Happened

  • Pernell closed out the regular season of an impressive sophomore career with another victory in her signature 100m dash event at Stonehill. She would improve on her NE10-best time and run a time of 11.92 in the win. The time goes as the second fastest in program history and is an NCAA provisionally qualifying time.
  • The Warriors found success in field events at Stonehill, with senior captain Olivia Downey (Melrose, Mass.) registering a third-place finish in the high jump with a 1.60m jump. Junior Lauren MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) would add a fourth-place finish in the triple jump, posting a new school record with a 11.51m jump and qualifying for New England's.
  • MacGregor would also add one of two ninth-place finishes for the Warriors in the field, doing so in the long jump with a personal-best 5.37m jump. Senior Sarah Muolo (Stoneham, Mass.) posted the other ninth-place finish for Merrimack in the pole vault with a personal-best 2.95m vault.
  • Downey and Pernell would also be joined by juniors Carol Dimaiti (Medford, Mass.) and Leniesha Williams (Bennington, Vt.) to record a fourth-place finish the 4x100m relay, posting the third-fastest time in program history at 48.27. Williams also added an eighth-place finish behind Pernell in the 100m dash (12.80).

The Warriors now gear up for the postseason when they head back to Stonehill next weekend for the NE10 Championships on Friday and Saturday.
