Meza Scores Twice as Men's Soccer Downs New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Merrimack College men's soccer team picked up the third straight victory and shutout, defeating the University of New Haven, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Kayo Field during Northeast-10 Conference action.

How It Happened
  • Senior Juan Meza (Cali, Colombia) kicked in a loose ball, following an initial save following a Merrimack corner kick in the eighth minute to give the guests a 1-0 lead. He added to the lead in the 15th minute, drilling a shot to the top right corner of the net.
  • Junior Lars Sund (Stavanger, Norway) got himself on the scoresheet with a tally of his own in the 22nd minute.
  • The Warriors pressured New Haven with eight shots, six of them on net, in the first 22 minutes of the contest.
  • 13 more shots came in the second half for Merrimack, seven of which landed on net.
