How It Happened
  • After senior Molly Meehan (Fairfield, Conn.) made a save from point blank in the 51st minute, freshman Izzy McDonnell (Fall River, Mass.) had a breakaway of her own moments later. She broke down the middle of the box and fired on net to a charging Saint Rose keeper.
  • 57' – A foul by the home team, however, led to a free kick by Nina Predanic. She fired a shot to the upper left corner of the net from 35 yards out.
  • 79' – Senior Victoria Carter (Smithfield, R.I.) knotted the game at one. The Warriors had a counter led by McDonnell, who sent a nice thru pass to Carter on the wing. Carter's shot rolled to the right side of the net.
  • Merrimack had ample opportunities to take the lead, firing four shots in the last seven minutes.
  • The game went into double-overtime to find a winner. Senior Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.) and McDonnell both had a chance to give the Warriors the victory. However, both of their shots were denied from close range in the second overtime.
  • It was Predanic that gave the Golden Knights the game-winner in the 104th minute. Her free kick sailed to the top right corner of the net to end the game.
