NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program plays in its second regional tournament in as many weekends on Friday and Saturday when the Warriors travel to the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Wilmington University. Merrimack's first match will be against the Wildcats, while the Warriors will also play Chestnut Hill, Holy Family and Jefferson University. Last Time Out
- Merrimack played four matches last weekend at the Long Island Invitational, including a 3-0 victory over Chestnut Hill for the Warriors' first win of the season
- Senior Mary Kate McCarroll (Harrison, Ohio) led Merrimack offensively, totaling 32 kills over the four matches, averaging 2.67 per set. Junior Katelynn Marr (Franklin, Mass.) emerged on the outside for Merrimack, leading the team with a career-high 14 kills in the 3-0 win over the Griffins
- Senior captain Christina Nye (Plaistow, N.H.) paced Merrimack defensively, notching 48 digs from her libero position for an average of 4.00/set
- Sophomore Rosie Sperduto (Brentwood, Tenn.) played the majority of the weekend as Merrimack's primary setter, dishing out a career-high 39 assists against Chestnut Hill
'Mack Facts
- First-year head coach Jeff Costa made his debut last weekend, with the Chestnut Hill triumph serving as Costa's first win at Merrimack
- Freshman Karina Anderson (Newbury Park, Calif.) played in her first collegiate matches, accounting for 11 kills, two blocks and two service aces
- Sophomore Sydney Buran (Cohoes, N.Y.) spent some time setting for Merrimack after not serving in that role last season, recording 15 assists including a career-high 11 against Jefferson
Series Histories:
- Merrimack will participate in the Wildcat Invite for the third time in four years, splitting its matches against Wilmington during the last two trips
- The Warriors' win against Chestnut Hill marked the first match against the Griffins in program history
- The Navy and Gold face Holy Family for the third time in their history and for the first time since 2014-15. The Warriors have a 1-1 all-time record against the Tigers
- Merrimack and Jefferson also played for the first time over the weekend, with the Rams taking the debut tilt between the regional foes
