NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After entering the second quarter down by 12 on Tuesday night at Hammel Court, the Merrimack College women's basketball team outscored the visiting Adlephi University Panthers by 20 points over the next 20 minutes to take a 48-40 lead to the final quarter. Merrimack's lead sat at 59-50 with under three minutes to play, but the Panthers ended the game on a 13-1 run to snatch a three-point win away from the Warriors in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Marquee Moments:
  • The Warriors faced a 14-point deficit in the early minutes of the second quarter, only to cut that down to a one-point game at intermission. Merrimack then held Adelphi to 22.2 percent shooting (4-18) in the third quarter to open a 48-40 lead through 30 minutes
  • The Panthers pulled within one, 51-50, with 3:49 left in the game, but the Warriors used an 8-0 run spurned by five points for freshman Mayson Kimball (Webster, N.H.) to build their advantage back to nine
  • Adelphi's game-winning stretch to close the quarter was highlighted by a three-point play Emily Miccile with 13 seconds remaining that made it a 61-60 game in favor of the visitors, proving to be the game-winning basket

  • The Warriors used an 11-4 run over the final three minutes to take a 48-40 lead to the final frame
  • By the midway point of the fourth quarter Adelphi had cut the deficit down to one, 51-50, but five straight points for Kimball built Merrimack's advantage back to six with 2:14 remaining
  • Merrimack's run extended to an 8-0 stretch, but Adelphi answered with six straight points bringing the contest back to a one-possession game, 59-56, with 25.6 seconds left. Werner hit one free to get the Navy and Gold to 60 points, but the Panthers scored the final seven to prevail
Notes and Notables
  • Despite the prolonged runs for both sides, the contest only featured three lead chances and was tied just three times
  • Werner led three Warriors with 21 points, shooting 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. It marked her third game this season with at least six treys
  • Davis-Stewart recorded her third double-double in six games, notching 12 points and 12 boards. She added seven blocks, tying her season high
  • Junior Karlee Alves (Ellington, Conn.) dished out a game-high 10 assists, her fourth game this season in double figures
  • Adelphi controlled the glass, outrebounding the Warriors, 48-36, which led to a 38-24 advantage in points in the paint
  • Four Panthers finished in double figures, including a team-high 17 points for Miccile
