EASTON, Mass. – Facing the top seed in the Northeast-10 Conference who finished the season undefeated in conference play, No. 42 Stonehill College proved to be too much to handle for the Merrimack College women's tennis program on Sunday afternoon in the NE10 Championship at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts. The Warriors finished the fall as the runner-up in the conference after being selected sixth in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, and senior captain Mana Seifaei was named the Elite 24 Award recipient as the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average in the tournament.

Rapid Recap
  • Sunday's match was pushed back to a 3 p.m. start due to the courts needing extra time to try. The change in time did not dissuade the Warriors' top doubles pair however, as Seifaei and freshman Rosemary Campanella raced out to a 6-1 win at the top spot to move Merrimack within one more victory of the doubles point
  • Stonehill recovered, however, as second and third doubles finished almost simultaneously with both matches going in favor of the hosts. The Skyhawks took a 1-0 lead into singles play
  • Despite close first sets that saw Merrimack lead at one point at first, third, fifth and sixth singles, the Skyhawks won the opener at all six singles flights. Stonehill prevailed at third and fourth singles, taking a 3-0 lead and moving within one more point of the championsihp
  • Second singles proved to be the deciding matchup as Stonehill's Alexandra Vo won her second set, 6-2, to clinch the championship for the hosts
  • In addition to Seifaei, Campanella and freshman Hope Salts emerged with hardware as the two rookies were named to the NE10 All-Tournament squad
