Men’s Soccer Opens NE10 Championship Defense at Home against Assumption in Quarterfinal Round Tuesday Night

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass – After a senior day victory, the Merrimack College men's soccer team has officially wrapped up a top four spot in the Northeast 10 Conference Championships as the #4 seed, and will host #5 Assumption Tuesday, October 30, at 7 p.m. The Warriors blanked Assumption in the regular season finale this past Friday to secure home field advantage in the first round.

  • The Warriors defeated Assumption in its last game of the regular season, 1-0; in dominating fashion, the Warriors allowed just five shots total, with one lone attack on net.
  • Senior goalkeeper Tyler Packet ranks 3rd in the NE10 in save percentage (.794), 3rd in goals against (13),  and 2nd in goals against average (0.81).
  • Merrimack has hosted the first round of the Northeast 10 Championships every year since 2014; the team has hosted five of the last seven first-round games.
  • Merrimack hasn't given up a goal to Assumption since 2013; since 1998, the team is 16-1-3 against the Greyhounds.
  • Freshman Tola Showunmi and sophomore Filippo Begliardi Ghidini are tied for the team lead in points (13); both have six goals and an assist on the season.
