NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.  – Facing a two-goal deficit through 35 minutes on Tuesday night at Merrimack Stadium, the fourth-ranked Merrimack College field hockey program saw senior Mary McNeil score twice in the second half, and junior Miranda Judd collect the game-tying goal to defeat the visiting Southern New Hampshire Penmen, 3-2, in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Records: #4 Merrimack (8-1, 4-0 NE10) | SNHU (4-5, 2-2 NE10)
Location: North Andover, Mass. | Merrimack Stadium

Scoring Summary
  • SNHU (1-0) – Merrimack fell behind early, as the visitors scored in transition. Junior Laura van der Doorn sent a cross pass the outstretched leg of junior goalkeeper Katharina Ohmen, and redshirt-junior Cassidy Huckins was waiting at the far point to tap it in at the 29:19 mark
  • SNHU (2-0) – Eight minutes later the Penmen converted again. After gaining possession via a penalty corner, a Penmen shot from just inside the arc took a deflection off a Merrimack defender and caromed into the net
  • MC (2-1) – McNeil utilized a quick restart to catch the Penmen defense flat-footed. The midfielder dodged through multiple defenders, and saw a shot take a deflection before scoring to cut the Warriors' deficit in half, with 26 minutes left in regulation
  • MC (2-2) – As the clock ticked under 15 minutes remaining, Judd equalized. Similar to McNeil's goal, the junior back took possession on a restart, split to Penmen defenders and ripped a shot inside the far to post for her fifth goal of the year
  • MC (3-2) – Another individual effort gave the Warriors the eventual game-winning goal. McNeil drove down the right side of the zone, and drilled a shot that slipped just inside the near post to put Merrimack ahead with eight minutes remaining. After Merrimack outshot SNHU, 10-1, to start the second half, the visitors put three shots towards goal in the waning minutes including one that senior Delaney Yule kept out of the net for her first defensive save of the season
