Women’s Volleyball Closes Season at AIC Saturday

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program will look to ends its 2018 season on a high note when the Warriors visit American International College on Saturday for a 5 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference contest in Springfield, Mass.  

Inside the Series:
  • The Warriors have dropped their last four matches to AIC, and will aim for their first win over the Yellow Jackets since 2014
  • AIC has developed into one of the top teams in the region, winning at least 20 matches in each of the last two years and reaching the NCAA Tournament in both seasons
  • The Yellow Jackets have risen to third in the conference with 10 league wins, and enter Saturday on a three-match winning streak
Five Things to Know:
  • Junior Catherine Flaherty has led the Warriors offensively this season, and will set a new career best in kills and points per set. Flaherty enters Saturday with 196 kills on the year, needing four for her second campaign with at least 200 kills over the last three years
  • Freshman Megan Rumenapp has emerged as the program's primary setter over the last eight matches, with all of her 132 assists this year coming over the last eight tilts
  • Senior Amanda Cain is on the cusp of her first-ever season with 300 digs, beginning Saturday's action with 298 on the year. The team captain ranks 11th in the league with nearly 3.60 digs per frame
  • Fellow senior Katelynn Marr is among the top three on the Warriors in both digs per set and points per set (2.03). The Franklin, Mass. native trails Flaherty and classmate Sofia Basauri (2.05) in points per frame
  • Freshman Sophie Meyers will end her debut season as the team's leader in total blocks (47.0) and blocks per set (0.57). The North Andover native also leads the group with 10.0 total blocks
