Highlights
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.  – The #24 ranked Merrimack College softball team dropped its Northeast-10 Conference opener against Northeast Division foe Bentley University, 4-2, on Tuesday afternoon. It was the first home game for the Warriors at their new turf field on Martone-Mejail Field.

- After two and a half scoreless innings, it was Merrimack that scored the first two runs of the game in the home half of the third. After loading the bases with three singles and a fielder's choice, senior Alyssa Williamson drew a one-out walk to bring in freshman Elizabeth McCoy across the plate. Junior Caitlin McBride then hit a shallow sacrifice fly to center, scoring sophomore Tiffany Mangiameli from third.
- After senior Megan Cook pitched a quick 1-2-3 inning in the top of the fourth, and her counterpart, Ashley Keegan responded with a quick inning herself, Bentley tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth.
- The Falcons had runners on second and third with two outs. Stacey Korotsky sent a single to left field with the first runner coming in easily. The second run came in after Korotsky got herself stuck in a rundown between first and second.
- The Warriors had a chance to retake the lead in the bottom of the inning, but stranded a pair of runners. Merrimack ran into trouble in the seventh and Bentley took advantage. With runners on the corners, the Falcons drew back-to-back walks to take a 3-2 lead. A fielder's choice up the middle, allowed the second run to come through as the visitors took a 4-2 lead. Lauren Calabrese pitched two perfect innings in relief to get her first win of the season.

Merrimack returns to action on Saturday with a doubleheader against American International College. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 p.m.
