MIDDLETON, Mass. – Celebrating Senior Day and honoring seniors
Mikhail Belov and
Frank Vega, the Merrimack College men's tennis program defeated Adelphi University, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon from the Northeast Tennis Center. With the win, the Warriors improved to 8-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play, and set up a clash with Southern New Hampshire on Saturday for the NE10 Regular Season Championship.

- Starting with singles play, the Warriors won four of six matches to need only one doubles tilt to win the match
- Vega played up one flight at No. 3 and won his 100th career match, 6-2 and 6-1. Sophomore Denis Davydov claimed a two-set win at second singles (6-1, 6-2). Classmate Paul Weidinger did the same at the sixth flight (6-2, 6-3)
- Junior Alex Fedorov kept his undefeated NE10 record in tact with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at fourth singles. The second-year Warrior did the same in the doubles venue, notching his eighth NE10 doubles win of the year at No. 2, 8-5
- Vega and Belov improved to 4-0 at first doubles with an 8-3 win over Adelphi's top pairing. Junior Tyler Clontz and Weidinger completed the sweep with an 8-6 triumph at No. 3
Notes and Notables
- Vega became the sixth Warrior in school history with 100 career victories, finishing the day with 101 after his doubles win
- Belov moved within two wins of the century mark, claiming his 98th career match on Wednesday
- Vega sits 25 wins shy of Chris Barnhart's program-record 126 wins. Peter Golajinan (112), Vince Bellino (109), Max Eppeley (108) and Nick Majewski (103) round out the top five

Merrimack will play Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts in Manchester, N.H. The victor will claim the NE10 Regular Season Championship and the top overall seed in next week's NE10 Championship.
