MANCHESTER, N.H.  – The Merrimack College softball team rallied from three runs in the seventh against Saint Anselm to tie the game at four, but the Hawks walked off in the seventh to take the third game of the series on Monday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference divisional action.

Rapid Recap
  • Merrimack jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning. Junior Hannah Johnson began the game with a single, before moving to third with two outs. She came in to score on a two-out double by senior Megan Cook.
  • However, the Hawks took a 2-1 lead in the home half, thanks to a two-out, two-run blast by Megan Murrell. Their starter, Courtney Fisher retired seven straight batters after the double by Cook.
  • The Hawks added a run in the fourth on a solo homerun by Maddison Leite, before she hit a two-out single to score a runner in the fifth for a 4-1 lead.
  • The Warriors scored three in the sixth. Freshman Abigail Amato and senior Alyssa Williamson reached on back-to-back singles, before Cook loaded the bases after reaching on an error. Junior Nicole Nanof scored Amato, after reaching on a fielder's choice, cutting the Hawks' lead in half. Williamson came around to score on a wild pitch.
  • After escaping the bottom of the sixth without any damage, the Warriors tied the game in the seventh. The inning began with a leadoff double by junior Caitlin McBride. She moved to third on a single by Johnson, before Johnson stole second. With two outs, Williamson hit a single to left, bringing in McBride to tie the game at four.
  • However, the Hawks walked off in the seventh. With two runners on and one out, Maggie Murphy hit a single to left field to score the winning run.

  • Amato extended her hitting streak to eight games.
