NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program opens Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday afternoon when the Warriors make to return trip to Easton, Mass. to face Stonehill College at 1 p.m. at Merkert Gymnasium.
Last Time Out:
- Despite playing three tightly contested sets on Thursday night, the Warriors dropped a three-set decision to Saint Anselm College in non-league action
- The Warriors were led offensively by junior Catherine Flaherty, who finished the night with seven kills. A pair of freshmen, Brooke Leestma and Kara Haase, recorded six kills each with the latter setting a new career high
- Junior Rosie Sperduto compiled her second consecutive double-double with a team-leading 23 assists and 13 digs. The setter now has five double-doubles this year to lead the Warriors
- The final set saw Merrimack use a 5-0 run to tie the frame at 23-all, but the Hawks recovered to claim the final two points and win the match
Mack Facts:
- Flaherty and senior Sofia Basauri pace the team with 75 and 65 kills, respectively. Basauri's .222 hitting percentage trails only sophomore Sophie Meyers (.308) for the team lead
- Meyers continues to be one of the most efficient hitters in the NE10. The North Andover, Mass. native is one of nine players in the league who currently have an attack rate of .300 or better
- Senior libero Amanda Cain leads the team with 109 digs, which is an average of 3.52 per set
Inside the Series:
- Stonehill took the first meeting of the season, 3-0, in the Warriors' final match of the Skyhawk Invitational
- Merrimack last topped Stonehill in 2016, via a 3-2 decision. The contest also marked Merrimack's most recent conference game at Merkert Gym
- That contest featured one of the best individual efforts in recent memory for the Warriors: Flaherty totaled 25 kills on 45 attacks, with only a single error for a .533 hitting percentage
