EASTON, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program dropped its Northeast-10 Conference opener on Saturday afternoon, 3-0, against Stonehill College from Merkert Gymnasium. The Warriors now shift their focus to the upcoming five-match homestand, which begins on Tuesday evening against Franklin Pierce.

Set Breakdown
- Freshmen Brooke Leestma and Kara Haase posted kills to keep Merrimack within two points through the first 12, 7-5. With the score at 12-8, the Skyhawks used a 5-0 run to open a nine-point advantage. Facing a 10-point deficit, junior Catherine Flaherty registered back-to-back points to make it a 23-15 set, but the Skyhawks ended the frame by taking the next two points
- Stonehill jumped out to a commanding lead through the first 15 points of the second set. Senior Katelynn Marr collected a kill that brought Merrimack within 10, 21-11, but Stonehill ended the set on a 4-0 run
- The third set saw the Warriors and Skyhawks exchange points through the first portion of the frame, including back-to-back kills for freshman Kayla Zinser. With the score at 13-11 in favor of the hosts, Stonehill notched six straight points and 12 of the final 13 to claim the victory
Top Performers
- Flaherty posted a team-best five kills on 21 attacks, and only committed with two errors for a .143 hitting percentage
- Junior setter Rosie Sperduto dished out a team-leading 13 assists, and totaled three kills on five attacks (.600 H%)
- Senior Amanda Cain led the way in the digging department, posting nine from the libero position
